Note: I am well aware that these are product reviews and not seller reviews. I usually never break this rule. In this case however, this is a SELLER-refurbished product, being sold by this seller ONLY, so the distinction between seller and product cannot be made as clearly.The ICB3 is an amazing blender in its own right. Even the unit I received from this seller was not lacking in power in any way. It could turn ice into white white snow in a matter of seconds. However, there are some things you should be aware of before you buy from this seller:1. If you've bought refurbished products in the past, there are some expectations you are bound to have about them, i.e. they are usually products returned by customers within the 30 day return window, and appear new for all practical purposes. Manufacturers go to great lengths to replace any parts that show any kind of wear. If you buy this 'refurbished' product from this seller though, you will be in for a rude shock. Every single part shows extreme wear. And why wouldn't they? These blenders have been used in Starbucks (read very high volume of use) for several years. The motor whines, the jar is cloudy and scuffed up all over, the blade is dull, and there are some stubborn brown stains below the blade that cannot be cleaned (the blade is fused to the jar). A new jar from blendtec will run you 60 bucks, but you're still not sure how long the motor will run. 2. This seller charges a restocking fee (which is a little lower if the unit is 'defective'). This is a double whammy: pay to ship a 20lb box back AND lose the equivalent price of a good consumer blender in restocking fees for no gain. You can get an exchange for 'free' (provided you ship back your unit first), but there is no guarantee that the replacement will be any better. 3. My unit came with a clearly leaking jar. I'm not talking about a loose lid; that was expected for a commercial blender. This was a jar where you could hold the lid down really tight, turn it upside down, and water would just flow out like a tap. That translated to a messy kitchen every time I ran a non-semi-solid load, even if I pressed down on the lid really hard. The seller wanted to receive the faulty jar first before they would ship me a replacement. What is the guarantee that the replacement would be any better? None, really. They will NOT send you a new or like-new jar. 4. Given the age of these jars, I would not be surprised if they are NOT BPA-free. I admit that this is just plain speculation and I challenge the seller to correct me with the facts. 5. How do I know the age of the unit? I actually don't. Not even the slightest idea. This is because the seller has gone to great lengths to wipe out all signs of actual age (other than the obvious heavy wear and tear). Blendtecs have a cycle count, that the seller has wiped out. Blendtec motor stickers usually have a year printed on them that the seller has gotten rid of as well. You really have no way of knowing how much life these have left in them. 6. A few months back, Blendtec was selling a reconditioned version of their total blender consumer model for 250 bucks, with 2 NEW jars and a 10 year manufacturer warranty. Now that is a deal. Wait for that to come back on, or buy a new unit. Don't waste your money here. Yes, this is a commercial model, but not knowing the cycle count or age, it can drop dead in a few weeks for all you know. Yes, the seller offers a 1 year warranty, but given their other policies quoted above (i.e. the restocking fee and the you-ship-your-junk-to-me-first policy), I would be very surprised if their warranty was any better than completely useless.Stay away!
