Product Description
The next best thing to an in-house sommelier, this high-quality wine opener offers the same performance and stylish design as corkscrews that cost far more. Made from durable, nickel-plated, zinc alloy with an easy-grip, it requires minimal effort to extract a cork from your favorite bottle of Pinot Noir or Chardonnay. Simply place the wine opener on the bottle and turn the T-shaped handle to insert the corkscrew, then pull up to remove the cork. This Pike Street corkscrew should be washed by hand and is imported.
Customer Comments This corkscrew has major design flaws and is of very cheap construction. The metal finish is not matte metal, but rather a sort of plastic lacquer which has spots where it did not dry evenly. The connection between the spindle and twist mechanism is very rough and is prone to jamming. Higher-quality machining would have avoided this problem. The connection between the spindle and "cage" is very loose; as a result the screw wiggles and it is very tricky to insert the screw straight into a cork. Worst of all, the cage is too narrow to accommodate a cork. This means once you get the screw into the cork and start pulling the cork up, it runs into the cage's rails and gets stuck and the only way to get the cork out is by pulling it straight up. I purchased this hoping to replace an old Monopol spindle corkscrew that broke since this looks very similar. Unfortunately, because of the design flaw in the cage and the cheap machining, this is virtually unusable. The pretty photo belies shoddy materials and workmanship.
