I was very disappointed with these two barstools I ordered. Within two days of using the stools, a guest leaned on the backrest of the stool and the armrests broke loose and the backrest cracked. By the end of the first week, I forgot and inadvertently leaned against the backrest of the other stool, and the backrest and arms broke loose on this one as well. At that point, I called and left a voice mail message and sent an e-mail to the company explaining what had happened. I called again the next day, and the person I talked to agreed to send me replacement parts for all the armrests and the broken chair back. I waited a couple weeks and did not receive the replacement parts. I called again, and the person I spoke to this time said they saw where I called in earlier, but for some reason the replacement parts had not been shipped. I have called and e-mailed several times since then, but no replacement parts and no more response from the company. It is now more than 30 days since I placed the order, so I suppose I'm stuck! These chairs suffer from a bad design flaw. There is a shim in the front underneath the seat that tilts the chairs back at a slight angle. When someone, even a light-weight person, leans against the backrest there is an upward component of force exerted at the attachment point of the armrests to their supports. This joint is only secured with glue and wooden dowels, and the armrests pull loose from their supports -- sometimes causing the backrest frame to splinter as well. The solution, if you are interested in a nice ~$200/chair do-it-yourself opportunity is to disassemble the seat, remove the shim, and then attach metal angle brackets to the armrest, armrest supports, and backrest supports at all stress points. Or you could just remove the armrests and chair backs!
