Only negative is that it comes covered in stickers that took about 10 minutes and plenty of goo-gone to remove. Frustrating. My 4 and 8 year old use in bathroom. Would work anywhere. It's heavy duty plastic, and I guess I could see a 300 pound guy standing on it in a kitchen, but I'd feel more comfortable with an under 200 pound person, or for children. It's not very tall... something like 8", so realize that it's a very slight boost. But goes well in the modern designed bathroom I have for my children, until they are old enough to put this one away in the supply closet. If a 4 year old can figure out how to fold it and set it up, you shouldn't have any troubles.
